Public school starts Monday in Nevada, but students are already learning their school week will be shortened.

Some schools in Eureka County will only be open four days a week to save money on bus fuel.

They will make up for the fifth day with longer school days and less breaks.

The Washoe County Superintendent of Schools does not like the idea.

He thinks it saves the school system money, but forces the parents to spend more.

“How they would deal with an additional day of daycare especially for those families who are already working two or three jobs, tough as it is,” said Paul Dugan.

A new study says one in seven schools across the country is looking into four-day weeks.

Also, an important reminder for all parents out there, all seventh-graders must have what is called the Tdap shot, or they cannot start school on Monday.
